The most important sector of the arg entine economy has traditionally been agriculture, although a decreasing percentage of the population are employed in this sector. Famous for its livestock, Argentina is one of the world’s largest exporters of beef, wool and hides. Corn, wheat, flaxseed, cotton and soybean are also major exports. Food processing, motor vehicles, meat packing, consumer goods, chemicals, textiles, printing and metallurgy are important industries.
